Here is a listing of hoedown (traditional) square, round and line dance opportunities I provided to members of the Square, Round and Line Dancing in Ohio group on Facebook. Check back since sometime I learn about dances after this is first posted. I am supplementing this community on my web site to accomodate people not on Facebook. You are welcome to join my site to fully participate in this evolving community. You are welcome to invite others to join the group on Facebook and my site!

August 31 & September 2 - Square Dance, 8 PM - Stark County Fair at Jr Fair Food Stand -

September 1, 7:00-9:00 PM - Square, Round and Line Dancing (by John Wargowsky) for Campers at Walnut Creek Campground & Resort, 2342 Walnut Creek Road, Chillicothe, OH

September 2, 1:30-3:30 PM - Square, Round and Line Dancing by John Wargowsky at the Richwood Independent Fair, 1 Gill Street, Richwood, OH 43344 

September 8 or 15 (date not yet posted on their website so check their site closer to the date) - Northwest Ohio Traditional Music and Dance (Square and Contra Dancing in Rossford) -

September 8, 7:00-10:00 PM - Barn Dance (Old-time music and square dance calling by the Rabbit Hash String Band) - Benefit for Ohio Citizen Action ($30) - The Barn at Country Pines Tree Farm, 8280 W 3rd St, New Lebanon, OH 45345 - Details

September 8 & 22, 8-11 PM - Martinsburg Square Dances - Community Hall 1/4 mile west of Martinsburg on Rt. 62. Cost is $5 at the door and food and drinks are available.

September 8, 8:00-11:00 PM - Athens Contra Dancing at the Shade Community Center - Details

September 9, 8:00-11:00 PM (instruction at 7:30 PM) - Wayne County Rural Youth Square and Line Dance with live music during the Wayne County Fair - Coliseum at Wayne County Fairgrounds, Wooster -

September 11, 8:00-10:00 PM - Northside Square Dance (Old-Time Community Square Dance to live music) - Northside Tavern 4163 Hamilton Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45223 - $5 donation suggested for the caller and band


September 12, 7:00-10:00 PM - Square Dance with live music by the Back Porch Swing Band at the Marietta VFW, 319 Pike Street, Marietta, Ohio 45750 (small admission fee)

September 14, 7:30-10:30 PM - All Soles Contra Dancing, Columbus, Details

September 15, 22, 29, (check website for details on these evening dances) - Big Scioty Contra Dances (Columbus) -

September 21, 7:00-10:00 PM - Ashland County Fair Square Dance with live music by the Tom Lang Band at the Byers Building - Fair Website

September 22, 7:30-10:00 PM - LIVE Old Time Music for Traditional Squares! This is an all-square-dance event. No previous dance experience required; all dances taught by Russ Childers. $7 adults. North Presbyterian Church, 4222 Hamilton Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45223

September 22, 7:30-11:00 PM - Cardington Square, Round and Line Dancing - Cardington American Legion, 307 Park Ave, Cardington, OH - Beverages, sandwiches, salads, homemade pies, soups and snacks are available and the doors open at 6:30. The cost at the dance is $8.00 for adults, 13 to 17 is $3.00, 12 and under is free. Map

September 29, 8:00-11:00 PM - Line and Square Dance at Bayard Grange, Minerva, Location & Map, Admission is $5 for those 13 and over. Refreshments are available.

September 29 - 7:00-10:00 PM - Heritage Barn Dance (Square Dance with live music) at Malabar Farm State Park, 4050 Bromfield Road. Lucas, OH
