October 2012 Square, Round and Line Dancing Opportunities in Ohio

Here is a listing of hoedown (traditional) square, round and line dance opportunities I provided to members of the Square, Round and Line Dancing in Ohio group on Facebook. Check back since sometime I learn about dances after this is first posted. I am supplementing this community on my web site to accomodate people not on Facebook. You are welcome to join my site to fully participate in this evolving community. You are welcome to invite others to join the group on Facebook and my site!

 

September 28, 8:00-10:00 PM - Second Fall Harvest Square & Contra Dance at the newly renovated Sunny 95 Park / Amelita Mirolo Barn in Upper Arlington. Kate Power will call family-friendly squares and contras to the great tunes of the Timbre Wolves! Please join others on the spectacular dance floor in this old barn that was moved from its original base to a new use! Cost 5 years and up - $8.


September 29, 8:00-11:00 PM - Line and Square Dance at Bayard Grange, Minerva, Location & Map, Admission is $5 for those 13 and over. Refreshments are available.

 

September 29 - 7:00-10:00 PM - Heritage Barn Dance (Square Dance with live music) at Malabar Farm State Park, 4050 Bromfield Road. Lucas, OH

October 9, 8:00-10:00 PM - Northside Square Dance with Kathy Anderson calling (Old-Time Community Square Dance to live music) - Northside Tavern 4163 Hamilton Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45223 - $5 donation suggested for the caller

 

October 10, 7:00-10:00 PM - Square Dance with live music by the Back Porch Swing Band at the Marietta VFW, 319 Pike Street, Marietta, Ohio 45750 (small admission fee) www.vfwpost5108.org/

 

October 12, 7:30-10:30 PM - All Soles Contra Dancing, Columbus, Details

 

October 13 - Northwest Ohio Traditional Music and Dance (Square and Contra Dancing in Rossford) - notmad.org/


October 13, 8:00-11:00 PM (instruction at 7:30 PM) - Wayne County Rural Youth Square and Line Dance with live music - FFA Building at Wayne County Fairgrounds, Wooster - www.waynecountyruralyouth.org/


October 13 & 27, 8:00-11:00 PM - Line and Square Dance at Bayard Grange, Minerva, Location & Map, Admission is $5 for those 13 and over. Refreshments are available.

 

October 13 & 27, 8-11 PM - Martinsburg Square Dances with live music- Community Hall 1/4 mile west of Martinsburg on Rt. 62. Cost is $5 at the door and food and drinks are available.

October 26-27-28, Columbus Country Dance Weekend - Details

October 27, 7:30-10:00 PM - LIVE Old Time Music for Traditional Squares! This is an all-square-dance event. No previous dance experience required. Rabbit Hash String Band with all dances taught by caller Russ Childers. $5 adults. North Presbyterian Church, 4222 Hamilton Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45223


October 27, 7:30-11:00 PM - Cardington Square, Round and Line Dancingwith live music - Cardington American Legion, 307 Park Ave, Cardington, OH - Beverages, sandwiches, salads, homemade pies, soups and snacks are available and the doors open at 6:30. The cost at the dance is $8.00 for adults, 13 to 17 is $3.00, 12 and under is free. Map
