Here is a listing of hoedown (traditional) square, round and line dance opportunities I provided to members of the Square, Round and Line Dancing in Ohio group on Facebook. Check back since sometimes I learn about dances after this is first posted. I am supplementing this community on my web site to accomodate people not on Facebook. October 1, 8, 15, 22, 29: 7:00-10:00 PM every Wednesday - Senior Citizen Round and Square Dance Night with live music by The Dancehall Desperados - VFW Post 5108, 319 Pike Street, Marietta; $4; dinner is from 5:30 to 7 p.m. for a minimal fee.
October 3, 10: 7:00-10:00 PM - Square Dance to live music at the Muskingum County Center for Seniors, 200 Sunrise Center Drive, Zanesville, Ohio 43701 (small admission fee) www.mccfs.org/

October 4 & 18, 8:00-11:00 PM - Martinsburg Square Dances with live music by Wayne King & the Hoedowners - Martinsburg Activity Center 1/4 mile west of Martinsburg on Rt. 62. Cost is $5 at the door and food and drinks are available.
October 11, 7:30-10:30 PM (instruction at 7:30 PM) - Wayne County Rural Youth Square and Line Dance with live music Buchwalter Greenhouse, 243 N Milton St, Smithville, OH 44677 - www.waynecountyruralyouth.org/
October 11 & 25, 8:00-11:00 PM - Round and square dance music provided by the Hand Picked Band with Gary Woods calling the square dances. October 11 & 25, 8:00-11:00 PM - Line and Square Dance at Bayard Grange, Minerva, Location & Map, Admission is $5 for those 13 and over. Refreshments are available.
October 14, 8:00-10:00 PM - Northside Tavern Squares with live music - The celebrated Gabe Popkin (Washington DC) and our own Northside Volunteers will direct your dancing feet on the Second Tuesday at the Tavern. Gabe hails from Lexington, KY, but now lives in the Washington, DC area. He is co-founder and co-leader of the DC Square Dance, which he claims is probably the largest regularly occurring traditional square dance in the country! Gabe has been calling dances since 2010.
