Here is a listing of hoedown (traditional) square, round and line dance opportunities I provided to members of the Square, Round and Line Dancing in Ohio group on Facebook. Check back since sometimes I learn about dances after this is first posted. I am supplementing this community on my web site to accomodate people not on Facebook. January 8, 15, 22, 29: 7:00-10 PM - Square Dance with live music at the Muskingum County Center for Seniors, 200 Sunrise Center Drive, Zanesville, Ohio 43701 (small admission fee)

January 2, 9, 23: 8:00-11:00 PM - Round and square dance music provided by the Hand Picked Band with Gary Woods calling the square dances. January 2, 16, 30: 8:00-11:00 PM - Martinsburg Square Dances with live music by Wayne King & the Hoedowners - Martinsburg Activity Center 1/4 mile west of Martinsburg on Rt. 62. Cost is $5 at the door and food and drinks are available.

January 8, 15, 22, 29: 7:00-8:00 PM - Line Dancing Class at AB Graham Memorial Center & Museum, 8025 E US-36, Conover, Ohio 45317. Class will meet for 6 Fridays, starting Jan 8. $5 a class. Taught by Dan Sturgill. Facebook Event

January 9, 7:30-11:00 Pm - Recreational Folk Dancers Midwinter Dance Party - Dances will be taught by participating groups along with dance requests to a mix of live and recorded music. 4th Avenue Christian Church, 296 West Fourth Avenue, Columbus. $5 admission; $1 kids 12 and under.

January 9, 7:00 til 10:00 PM - Granville Old Fashioned Barn Dance - Join us for a community social Old Fashioned Barn Dance for fun, friendship, dancing and music. Dances such as: Traditional squares, Contra, Country Western, Partner dances, Line dances, The Waltz, The Virginia Reel, Spanish Waltz and Mixers will be taught and done during the dance. Singles and couples of all ages are welcome and no experience is necessary...beginners are encouraged to join the fun! The cost is $5.00 per person at the door. Location: United Church Of Granville, 115 W. Broadway, on the S/W corner of W. Broadway and Main Street. The dance is in the Annex building on the west side of the church. January 12, 8:00-10:00 PM - Northside Tavern Squares with live music - LOCAL YOKEL NIGHT -- features Russ Childers & Friends calling the square dances; music by the Northside Volunteers. Start the new year on the right foot with our very first "Cake Walk" where we try to recreate an old-time tradition at area barn dances. Win a cake.
